Sara R Piva
Sara Piva is a Professor and Vice Chair for Research, in the Department of Physical Therapy, at the University of Pittsburgh, U.S. She directs the Physical Therapy-Clinical and Translational Research Center, a clinic that runs rehabilitation trials for the research community. She received her Physical Therapy degree from the FEEVALE University and a master’s degree in sports medicine from the University of Passo Fundo, both in Brazil. She concluded her Master’s in musculoskeletal physical therapy and a PhD degree in rehabilitation sciences from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Piva has over 15 years of clinical experience primarily in orthopedic physical therapy. She has been an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy for over 20 years. Her research focuses on developing and testing new paradigms of exercise programs to improve physical function of individuals with musculoskeletal conditions. Her research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and research foundations, and resulted in over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
