MinKyu (Mark) Kim
Mark is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist working in Dr. Nadeen Chahine's lab at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Mark received his PhD degree in Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario, Canada) under the mentorship of Dr. Cheryle Séguin. Mark was also part of the Collaborative Training Program in Musculoskeletal Health Research at the Bone and Joint Institute. There, Mark adopted tools from different disciplines (bioreactor system, developmental biology, genetic modeling) to understand the mechano-reception, mechano-transmission, and mechano-response of intervertebral disc cells. Mark's postdoctoral research focuses on understanding the role of inflammation during age-associated intervertebral disc degeneration.
